It doesn’t have to be difficult to solve the problems we are facing as a city. We are making things more complicated than they need to be.
It takes AWARENESS, UNDERSTANDING, AND DESIRE to fix our current crime issues.
Awareness of the crime happening in the first place, understanding how crime works, and desire to stop it.
Seattle is the smartest city in the entire country. We are most well read. We have so many well educated and super experienced people in Seattle. If we harness that collective intelligence and experience then we should be able to find solutions that satisfy everyone.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to be the mayor. The mayor doesn’t need to be a genius. We have had “smart” and “experienced” people as mayor in Seattle before and we were not satisfied with the job they did.
If we want something different, then we have to vote for someone different. If it sounds the same as what we have heard and seen before then it is going to be more of the same.
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Dont discount me based on something that doesn’t prove I will not be the best mayor the city has seen. A good mayor needs to be good at gathering and producing ideas and has to be good at criticizing people and there ideas.
I believe in satisfaction as a lens to view almost everything. Are we satisfied or not. How can we satisfy those who are unsatisfied? Everyone wants to be satisfied and we all want the same thing so we can use that as a platform to build off of.
Using this lens, solutions can become clear. Ones that nobody is unhappy with.
The mayor doesn’t have a magic wand to do anything instantaneous, for the most part. The mayors biggest power is there influence to get the many players and moving pieces to do there best.
I embrace negativity and think it has possibly more for the city to benefit from than positivity.
Conversations will drive the solutions to our problems. These conversations must not be all sunshne and roses, because the problems we must solve are “negative” and the mistakes we are making or might be making must be aknowledged and this will mean bringing up “negative” things.
These are all conversations that we must lean into in Seattle and they must be filmed so that all of Seattle can benefit from them.
I have some specific ideas for solutions to problems plaguing Seattle for decades, but we must remember that Seattle’s mayor doesn’t have a magic wand to make these things happen.
On the homeless tent problem and the garbage associated with it.
In a perfect world, we would be able to have tent camping for those who require it at night but have no tents during the day. The only tents that would be permitted would be issued by the city and would be easy to put up and take down. Tents must be packed up and kept on your person during the day and anything left up or around would be quickly discarded during the day. The only tents that would be permitted anywhere would be city issued tents.
Hard shell luggage would be supplied to the homeless so they can have mobility and also move there belongings and the tent around during the day.
Anything left during the day would be discarded. This would be a solution that satisfies everyone.
We culd clean up the downtown retail core of Seattle by opening upo our allies and requiring drugs ionly be consumed in the allies. Drug users naturally would rather go into the ally anyways, but ar eprevented from doing so currently by police and shopkeepers, but they would be much less a danger to the safety of the community and to the success of businesses if they were not in front of shops as an eyesore and a safety concern.
Any drugs being consumed on the sidewalk would be prohibitted and you could actually get in trouble for consuming drugs with a lack of discretion.

All the candidates should be joining one another in an open forum to discuss our ideas and learn wehy the other candidates think what they think.
We need to take the time to prove our way of doing things as being the best. If I am right about an idea or issue then I should be able to prove it. Maybe another candidates plan or idea or way of thinking will be adopted by others if the conversation is given time to happen.
If this election happens and a winner is elected without having every candidate joining together in a conversation/forum where we advocate for our plan or way of thinking being better than another candidates, then we are not ensuring we have the best candidates stepping into office.
Lets put all the candidates in a room together to discuss the topics that are driving this election. Lets see if minds can be changed. At the very least, we can find out what a candidate really thinks and plans to do once elected.
At best, be will have candidates adopt better ideas and ways of approaching a problem than they previously had.
There are alot of contrasting ideas among the candidates and every idea cant be the best or the right way of doing things. We should be doing everything we can to make sure whoever gets the most votes has the best ideas they possibly can.
This election needs to be about IDEAS.
Lets separate the candidate from the ideas as much as possble and realize that an idea can stand on its own merrit and is not the candidate who has the idea.
I look at everything through a customer service, are they satisfied or are they not satisfied lens.
So when it comes to the Seattle Police, there are lots of community members who are not satisfied with SPD.
This are you satisfied or are you not satisfied way of thinking is a much better indicator of how the police are doing than current ways of gauging. Approval ratings can be misleading. Especially because the conversation becomes you eithe rlike the police or you want to defund them when it doesn’t have to be like that.
I understand the type of conversations and leadership that will be needed to make satisfaction a priority within SPD. If the protesters, antifa, abolitionists become satisfied, then they will no longer protest, damage property, act out etc.
We have never had a police chief who believed that the unsatisfied could be satisfied. Elect the right police chief, one who believes that the unsatisfied can be satisfied, then you will see much different results and interactions with SPD and our community.
Abolitionists would prefer to have a police force if it was possible for the police to be fair, nice, nonviolent, and perform the job without misconduct.
Give the community a police force where all that happens and the abolitionists will no longer be calling for abolition.
